Badminton free of charge 4 times a week in Jelgava

Foreigners studying at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in Jelgava have the opportunity to play badminton for free at the University sports center four times a week – on Monday and Wednesday from 16:30 to 18:00, on Fridays from 8:15 to 10:00 and on Saturdays from 11:00 to 13:00.

>>> Players must e-register before their first badminton practice

Badminton players have access to 4 doubles courts, a few aluminum rackets for students, and shuttlecocks previously used in competitions. Changing rooms with showers are also available.

Training will again be organized by Kristians Rozenvalds (Phone: +371 29546666, Email: kristians@rozenvalds.lv)

While the coach assists new students in the initial sessions, he mainly acts as an “administrator,” pairing players and assigning courts based on skill level and interest.

Foreign students are actively integrated into the training sessions, making up at least a third of the participants. For them, it’s a chance not only to play but also to socialize with local students and players.

In February, the LBTU Universiade traditionally takes place, where foreign students are invited to participate and help their faculty teams earn valuable points. They can also represent LBTU in the Latvian Universiade in March and other national ranking tournaments.

Up-to-date information on training is available on jbk.lv (this webpage is only available in Latvian language) and in the WhatsApp group managed by the coach, who adds all interested students.
